Number eight This is a picture of my friend, Fran, who was doing a front/side flip. I liked the radial structure that his body seemed to produce as he flipped. It seemed like he pivoted around one point. To show movement, I splatterpainted him to make it more active and exciting than just painting him a solid color. After that, I made the lines of his body and clothes very bold to show space and emphasize the movement of the material of his shirt and pants. Then i created a radial structure in the background to show his entire body in motion. I made the focal point of the structure the very center of his chest and arms; the area from which he was "pivoting". The background is solid black so that it does not attract much attention but it allows more excitment and movement. I think this was a succesful action shot piece, but I still might add more to Flipping Fran.

Soooooo here's the deal...

After my self-portrait fiasco, i tried to do two in one week to catch up. One during B Period and the other during Teacher's Aide. The make-up one (the buildings) turned out unfavorable, so i am in the process of finding something new to do. I have been so busy with it all that i haven't had time to take pictures of the new "Girl with Hair" portrait, "Ambiguous Space" piece, nor the most recent "Beach Scene" that i have been working on. If i get those three taken on Tuesday, then i will be only one project behind (which i will quickly make up). I know what i am doing for next week's project. Basically, 4 new pieces are coming soon. Sorry for the flurry of confusion, the musical hasnt really given me much time to catch up at nights.

Breadth #1 Breadth #3 (Number one coming soon, number two needs more work before i post it) I picked this picture because i like the composition and i thought it would be good to "just do one, good contour line piece" according to Mrs. Danahy. Plus, i like contour line and thats what i really wanted to do. I also like this piece because of the triangular shape it creates with the hair; this tends to make art more interesting, as i learned in my TA class with the freshmen and unfortunatly some seniors. I think i might go back in to this piece and maybe add color, but first i want to see how the next two turn out.

I have to do the background but here it is so far. Number 12.
